HOPE Literacy, Inc. Helps Other People Excel in life by establishing, equipping, operating, supporting, and resourcing church and community literacy programs.
English literacy and language education empowers people to live freer, more successful lives and could be the difference  between getting ahead and barely getting by.
HOPE is the sponsor of LAMP (Literacy And Mission Partners), a Tarrant and Dallas County, DFW Metroplex  Adult Literacy Council partnering to raise the level of literacy.  In cooperation with our Partners we started the Metroplex Literacy Conference  5 years ago to raise awareness and bring high quality training to teachers and volunteers.  We joined the Tarrant Literacy Coalition, Literacy ConneXus and Literacy Texas to network with others who share the vision to meet the need of literacy in our community.

Your Mary Hill Davis Dollars at Work

MHD Dollars Reaching the World in Texas

Meghan Strickland is a linguistics major at a college in Texas. In an effort to hone her skills in Arabic, she signed up for a program to practice English with non-native speakers and was assigned Abdul, a Muslim from Saudi Arabia.

During one of their weekly conversations, Abdul asked Meghan about Jesus. He told Meghan he had lots of questions and had been secretly reading a Bible.

Meghan offered to meet with Abdul regularly to discuss his questions about Jesus. Meghan remarks, "I was hoping I could find him a Bible with both Arabic and English side-by-side so that he could practice his English, but also read about Jesus in his own language, so when I got the parallel Bible I was so excited."

The Mary Hill Davis Offering® for Texas Missions provides parallel language Bibles through the Heart Language Ministry Funds allocation. Meghan and Abdul met together throughout the semester. Meghan shares, "Abdul has yet to believe in Jesus. However, I am confident that he understands the Gospel now. I am praying that Jesus will reveal himself through His Word. Thank you so much for donating for the Bible. Now my friend Abdul, a Saudi man of great influence, may one day return to his country as a believer of Jesus and lead many Muslims to God."

Denise Koprive Killed in Auto Accident

Please Pray ...

Please pray for the family and friends of former CWJC Site Coordinator Denise Kopriva. She was killed in an automobile accident in Callahan County on Sunday, January 29.

Denise joined CWJC in 1995 becoming the Site Coordinator for the Lubbock CWJC in 2002. Since that time, her heart for reaching women has touched countless lives.

Jean Roberson, National CWJC/CMJC Training Coordinator writes: "[She] taught them how the Bible calls us to minister to those who need a second chance. [She] taught them how to organize and mobilize people. [She] shared how working with those in poverty is as much a spiritual battle as it is a journey of increased education and skills. When I think of all the people from Texas and other states who sat under [her] teaching and I see how they are making a difference in the lives of men and women in their communities, I see how God has moved through [her] successes and challenges and created a legacy from [her] life. "
