How can I be in a right relationship with God?
"...I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10:10b
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Why can’t I know God?
God created us in His own image to have an abundant life. He did not make us to automatically love and obey Him but gave us a will and freedom of choice. Because of our choices to sin, we are separated from God. Our sin is so detestable that it not only prevents us from having a relationship with God, but it also causes us to spend eternity in hell after we die. The Bible says...
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not die, but have eternal life.” John 3:16
While God judges our sin, he also looks on us with mercy and love. He provided a way for us to have a relationship with Him, to go to heaven instead of hell after death, and to have our sin forgiven forever. God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to take the punishment for our sin. He died on the cross and rose from the grave, taking the punishment that we deserved for our sin so that we could have a relationship with God. Jesus' death provides us with forgiveness for our sins. In His death, Jesus conquered sin and death and provided a way for you to get to heaven and have a relationship with God, if you accept this free gift of salvation.
What do I need to do?
You do not need to do anything except trust Jesus Christ., that He is the Son of God who died on the cross for you. You must accept his sacrifice on your behalf and trust Him by faith to be the Lord (master, boss) of your life. You must also count the cost of becoming a follower of Jesus Christ, because you may be faced with persecution.
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name." John 1:12
"...if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
